Day 31
Ella was sad going to bed. Usually she goes down very easily, but I think she got just a bit too tired before bed!
A photo a day, everyday, during 2010.
Ella was sad going to bed. Usually she goes down very easily, but I think she got just a bit too tired before bed!
I attempted to take some first birthday pictures today. I got a few I liked, but I want to try again.
I've really been wanting to get some shots of her sleeping, but she rarely will fall asleep if she isn't in her crib, which makes things a little more difficult (I'm always worried about waking her up if she's already sound asleep in her crib). However, today I had to wake Ella up anyway, so I thought I would take a few shots of her. I thought she would wake up (I had to use my flash), but she slept through my picture-taking!
I didn't have the opportunity to take many photos today, but here is one of them. I've also posted a couple on my home blog. One of her new "things" is getting up on her knees.
This isn't the best photo, but it shows Ella playing with one of her favorite toys . . . a drink lid!
Ella is playing with one of her birthday toys in this photo.
Ella is just a little over a week away from her first birthday, but we had some family in, so we went ahead and let her have some cake. She loved it!!
My husband opened up the fridge, and well, that is where Ella ended up!
The "O" face. And the blur in the bottom of the photo is my dog running by . . . I could have edited it out, but I was lazy. :) By the way, I took some more photos yesterday (that I didn't post here). Check them out at my home blog!
Ella is finally feeling much better today . . .the bad news is that now I'm sick! I was able to get a few shots today. It was beautiful outside! I just wish I could get her to look at me! :)
My poor baby is still not completely well (although she was better today!). I'm ready for some not-so-sad-looking pictures!
Ella is still not feeling great, which is evidenced in the first picture. For the second picture, I'm still trying to figure out how to take a shot where she is backlit (even though it is her front that is backlit!). I like the silhouette, but I'm still don't feel like I got the shot exactly like I wanted it. If anyone has any tips, I'd love to hear them!
Poor Ella didn't feel great today . . . I did manage to get a few shots. I thought the first one was pretty funny. My husband was walking around the corner, and Ella and Ali were both intrigued.
Many times when I'm taking Ella's picture, I have to take a BUNCH just to get one good shot. There are many reasons for this - one being that I'm still very new to photography, and I'm trying to do my best to learn as much as I can. But another reason for this is the fact that it is impossible to make an eleven-month-old look at the camera. Thus, today's picture.
I'm not pleased with my shot today. It was one of those days that I probably just needed to suck it up and use my internal flash, because there was very little natural light in my house at all (it was really rainy and cloudy). And, yes, she was playing with a dog water bowl (thankfully, empty, water bowl).
Here Ella is playing in her jumperoo. She still loves to jump in it even though she's almost a year old. If her eyes look tired it is because they are . . . she went down for a nap shortly after I took this photo.
I got a shot of Ella right before she went out on a walk with her dad today. Sadly, the walk didn't last long because it started raining!
I thought I'd be creative today, and use Ella's blocks to spell out her name. This is the only shot (out of many I tried), that came remotely close to the affect I was trying to get. I don't like that her head is partially cutoff, but that's what happens your model is an eleven-month-old!
Ella is showing off her sippy cup skills . . haha! Thankfully Ella has been great holding her own bottle (since she was six months old!) and using a sippy cup. :)
I must quit waiting until the end of the day to take my picture. When I wait until the end of the day, I have to use my pop-up flash, which I'm really trying to avoid.
It is nearly the middle of January, and our leaves have finally fallen. Ella was pretty amazed by the leaves! I like this shot, but I wish I would have taken a minute longer to compose it so that the sidewalk wasn't going through the middle of her head. Oh well.
Every month I take Ella's photo with a month sign. I'm a little behind this month (just completely forgot . . .eek!), but I got the photos taken before she turned a year old, so that's good, right? These photos showcase a typical photo session with an 11-month-old. Crazy, unpredictable, exhausting, and, well, nothing goes as one (me!) might foolishly plan it. She had shoes on when I started taking her pictures . . . they didn't last long.
Today's photo really isn't about learning photography or figuring out how to get a great shot. My husband and I were both absolutely puny with some sort of stomach bug, so I'm thankful I got a shot at all. Today should be Ella's last day in her infant car seat (her convertible car seat should be coming tomorrow), so I really wanted to get a photo of her in it. On my home blog, I'll be doing a post sometime (maybe tonight) comparing her first days in the car seat to now, but that's not what this blog is about. So with no further rambling . . .
