Day 54

I wanted a shot of Ella in her hooded towel, but I didn't have enough light and I didn't have my card to reflect the flash, so I ended up with this. Ella is cute, but the picture is blah as far as having to use my flash. Oh well!

Day 49

I'm trying really hard to nail my focus, specifically nailing the focus on Ella's eyes. It is incredibly hard (at least for me) to nail the focus on her eyes when she is always on the move! I decided that while she was in her jumperoo, I could take the opportunity to practice focusing on her eyes while she is at least semi-still. How did I do with focus? Any tips for nailing focus with such a crazy subject? To capture this image, I focused on her eye, presses halfway down, then recomposed the shot. However, I don't feel like I can use this method if she's moving around. Maybe I just need to learn to be faster . . .

Anyway, enough rambling! For some funny pictures of Ella today, click here!

Day 48

Ella loves bathtime! Here she is playing with her starfish fountain bath toy. It squirts water and lights up . . .she loves it!

Day 47

It was a cool, but beautiful day outside today, so I took the opportunity to take Ella out for a few minutes. And, yes, she's holding a clothespin. She was playing with it before I took her outside and she refused to give it up! :)

Day 46

I'm trying to work on some fill-the-frame shots. I love when I see others fill-the-frame shots, but I haven't been pleased with mine (so this is a great time to practice!). I need to edit out the shadow across her forehead , but I did taxes tonight instead of much photo-editing. :) For this shot, I really needed a higher f/stop value because one of her eyes isn't in focus, although in a way, I kind of like the effect.

Day 44

I attempted to take some Valentine's Day (well, kind of Valentine's Day) pictures today. I wasn't super happy with them, but I after looking through them more, I actually think the problem is my background color. It is sort of an off-white color and it seems to read very grayish/muddy in my pictures. I still think Ella is cute though! :)

Day 42

I'm a little slow posting these pictures, but I assure you, I did take it on Day 42! :) Although this picture is pretty plain, just Ella drinking her sippy cup, it really marks a big milestone for us: the transition from formula to milk (well, soy milk and rice milk in Ella's case since she's allergic to cow's milk).

Day 41

I pulled out my plexiglass to do some practice shots with Ella using it. Ella had NO desire whatsoever to stay in place, but I got a couple of cute shots. I haven't taken the time to edit out the line from the plexi . . . maybe I'll get around to that later and post the edited shots.

Check out my home blog for another cute shot of Ella today!

Day 40

I decided it would be fun to take a picture of her sitting in the same spot from month to month so I can watch her grow. Last month, I took a picture of her on the porch, and I thought this would be an easy spot to take a picture each month (although it isn't the most exciting spot, it gets great light!). Can you tell if she's grown?

Day 34

We've been having some pretty gloomy days, and I find I just don't want to take as many pictures because I just don't have the light I really need. I did get a few, but I really aim to get lots of pictures throughout the day, and just pick my favorite(s). Oh well, today's pictures are pretty funny!

Day 33

I took Ella outside for a few minutes today. She made some pretty cute faces! I only wish I had pointed her more towards the light (although it was cloudy) because in some of these her face is a bit dark.

Her famous "nose-scrunch."
Reminding me that our dogs were inside and that they wanted to be outside with us.
